The underlying conference theme of Working Together aims to look towards the next generation, to those that will be dealing with future spills, and to deliver that essential element in this industry – networking. Interspill 2012 opening plenary session on March 13, “What the World Thinks About Oil Spills”, will be introduced by BBC Science correspondent David Shukman.

Interspill 2012 is owned and organized by a tripartite group, combining the European Oil Spill Industry, with the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association, (IPIECA), representing the environmental and conservation interests of the international petroleum industry, and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), recognizing its tasks concerning marine pollution preparedness and response in Europe. Moreover, Interspill 2012 is supported by the International Maritime Organization, (IMO), International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds, (IOPC), the International Tanker Owners Federation (ITOPF) and France’s Centre of Documentation, Research and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution (CEDRE).
